Product Description

Diazepam is used for treating anxiety, withdrawal from alcohol, and seizures. It can also be used to alleviate muscle spasms and offer sedation prior to medical procedures. This drug works by relaxing the nerves and brain. Diazepam is a member of a class of medications known as benzodiazepines.

How to use

Learn the medication guide offered by your pharmacist prior to when you begin taking diazepam. You should also read it every time you receive a refill. If you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Inject this medication either with or without food, as prescribed by your physician. If you’re using the liquid version of the medication, be sure to take the dose with a specific measuring device or spoon. Don’t use a common spoon since you might not receive the right dosage.

If you’re making use of the concentrated remedy, you can use the dropper that comes with it and mix the dosage in a tiny amount of either liquid or soft food (such as applesauce or pudding, etc.). Consume the entire mixture immediately. Do not keep the mix for use later on.

The dosage depends on the medical conditions you have, your age, and your response to treatment. Don’t increase the dose or use the drug more often or longer than the time prescribed. Your condition won’t get better any faster, and the risk of having adverse reactions will rise. Make sure to stop taking the medication when you are directed to do so.

If you abruptly stop taking the medication, you could be experiencing withdrawal-related symptoms (such as muscle cramps in the abdomen, shaking, vomiting, sweating, anxiety, seizures, and restlessness). To avoid withdrawal, your doctor might reduce your dosage slowly. The risk of withdrawal is higher when you’ve used diazepam for long periods or in large doses. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you are experiencing withdrawal.

When the medication is used for a prolonged period, it might not function equally. Consult your physician when this medication ceases to work properly.

Although it can be beneficial for many, it can also lead to dependence. The risk is higher in the case of an addiction disorder (such as excessive use of or dependence on alcohol or drugs). Follow the exact dosage recommended to reduce the risk of becoming addicted. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more information.

Do not consume grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice when taking this medicine unless your pharmacist or doctor allows it in a safe manner. Grapefruit may increase the risk of having side effects while using this medication. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more information.

If your doctor has prescribed it, make sure to take this medication on a regular basis to reap the maximum benefits from it. To make it easier to remember to take it, you should take your medication at the exact time(s) every day.

Contact your doctor if the health condition persists or becomes worse.
