Hydrocodone is a synthesized opioid that is a derivative from codeine. 14 It is often used with Acetaminophen for the treatment of moderate to intense discomfort. In the past, hydrocodone was utilized as a suppressant of cough but it has been largely removed with the dextromethorphan in the current cough and cold formulas.
